Franco Harris of the Pittsburgh Steelers makes the "Immaculate Reception"

On December 23, 1972 the Pittsburgh Steelers trailed the Oakland Raiders 7-6 in an AFC semi-final game at Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh. Facing fourth and ten on their own 40-yard line with 22 seconds left and no time outs, Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw threw the football to the Raiders' 35-yard line. Bradshaw's intended receiver was fullback Frenchy Fuqua, but as the ball reached the receiver so did Raiders safety Jack Tatum. As Fuqua was sent flying to the ground the ball went backwards several yards, end over end.Steelers running back Franco Harris, having initially stayed in to block on the play, had moved out of the backfield to give Bradshaw another option. Harris scoope up the ball just before it hit the ground, off o the top of his shoes practically, and ran it in for the winning touchdown with five seconds left in the game. The play was not only bizarre, it was also controversial (if the ball hit Fuqua instead of Tatum then it was illegal for Harris to catch and advance the ball). The play has been immortalized as the "Immaculate Reception," and with this figure from McFarlane Toys you can freeze the famous moment for display.
