My son would give this 4 or 41/2 stars...I disagree

We bought this for our son's 2nd birthday and he absolutely loves it! Actually, it has kicked off a really powerful Thomas OBSESSION and it seems that we will be spending hundreds on Thomas products now:( I thought he would love the fact that he could put in the little records, but he doesn't seem to care about them. The lid does constantly come off, and he will run over to me and ask for help. He also doesn't seem to be able to connect Thomas to the car he pulls. I'm sure in time he will get it, but right now he just likes to make them push each other along (or crash!). My biggest complaint is that Thomas will NOT STOP when you push the smoke stack. So, you push the smoke stack Thomas starts moving slowly-the kids love that-but then he hits a wall or something and the wheels keep spinning. Not only will this make batteries run out faster, but the tread on the wheel that spins can leave black marks on the ground. I found our Thomas stuck between a chair and a coffee table one evening and he had made a nice black mark on our light colored carpet. If only it would stop after say 20 seconds, that would make it great. Despite the lid coming off all the time, the fact that it doesn't stop, and his non use of the records, my son truly loves this. He would give it 4 to 41/2 stars I'm sure. I give it 3 since I hate having to turn it off myself all the time and putting the lid back on.

BAD DESIGN

THE TOY IS CUTE BUT THE DESIGN TO OPEN THE COVER TO PUT THE DISC IN IS THE WORSE EVER, ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO OPEN, LET ALONE A 2 Y OLD BOY

Fun and Durable with One Small Hitch

We bought this last Christmas for our then 18-month-old grandson. He loves it and plays with it a lot, even after 6 months. It is one of his favorite toys. He is usually rather hard on toys because he likes to keep his throwing arm in shape, if you know what I mean. ;) This toy is no worse for the wear and has held up amazingly well. It is not a battery hog either. My one and only complaint is the same one that a previous reviewer mentioned. The cover for the CD player is very difficult to open. In fact, my grandson cannot open it. We must open it for him. And then once you open it, the cover tends to come completely off. If you could just leave the cover off it would be less of a nuisance, but the CDs won't play without the cover on. If not for this one flaw, I would definitely have rated it 5 stars. But even with that flaw, I would recommend this toy.
