| Toy Description Imagine being able to build your very own medieval adventure castle that your children can actually play in? Mega Bloks has elevated the art of fort building well beyond two stools and a sheet with these giant-size lightweight, double-walled plastic, modular blocks that lock together to create enormous, imaginative expandable play areas -- indoors or out. Love It The Adventure Castle is a big hit in our home. We started with one set and then bought another so that we could build bigger castles. My son is 4 years old and has no trouble using the "blocks" or locking them. When not in use, we "store" it around his bed, (headboard and along the wall side of his bed). It's never falled down on him and it looks like he's sleeping in a castle. I would recommend this toy to anyone. It is sturdy, durable and fun. There is no "wrong" way of putting it together so kids can get creative with it.
wyattsadiemom Santa purchased this gift for my 3 yr and 1 1/2 yr old children in Dec. 04. I was so excited about this gift since my son loves castles, knights and any thing to do with a medieval theme. Both children walked completely past it on Christmas morning with no interest at all. We left it set up in the living room for a few weeks and it was played with a little bit, but not as much as I expected. They both like running through the door and making a fort. Since my children didn't play with it that much I decided to take the castle down and use it as a headboard for my son's bed like it shows on the box. Bad idea. He woke up in the middle of the night screaming because he had bumped into it. The entire thing collapsed on his head. He was not seriously hurt, but it still wasn't a pleasant way for him to wake up in the morning. Mega Bloks should not advertise this to use as a headboard for a bed. I got this on sale with free shipping, but it still wasn't worth what I paid. I should have just bought the more expensive Little Tikes or Step 2 playhouse.
Castle Is Not All Blocks !!! Still Fun and valuable Toy We actually bought a lot of 5 packages of these so we could do some serious building and overall they are great. However, the picture on our boxes did not really show that the door is a piece of cheap fabric, not part of the block system. The blocks are pretty durable. I have a 3 year old and a 7 year old and they love them. I'd say to be able to build and have them lock together for stability the child has to be around 6 or 7. My 3 year old can stack them but not Lock them into one another to make a lasting wall. I would also say that you need a couple of boxes to make something. 1 box does not go that far, especially if you have more than 1 child. With all that in mind, I think they are a great toy, great for the imagination, and you can do lots of different things with them, kind of like legos. I got my sets for a great discount and don't know if I think they would be worth the 79.99 tag that they were at the time. I also really think you need more than 1 set to build anything bigger than a wall and corner. They are well made, but I would not say they are indestructable like some of the Little Tikes plastic structures we've had. They can be smushed a bit if you walk on the flat sides of them like my kids did making a pathway of stepping stones out of them on the floor. |
