Toy Description

Apples to Apples Junior is the young version of the Apples to Apples original game that's been hailed as a national competition winner by Mensa, the high-IQ society. In both versions, players are dealt five red apple cards and try to make the closest match possible to a word on the judge's green apple card. In Apples to Apples Junior, if you're holding a quintet consisting of, for example, Winnie the Pooh, Farms, Swimming, Bumble Bees, and The First Day of School, you play one of the five to match Loud. If the judge selects your card as the best match, you keep the green apple card; if you win four you're king of the orchard. Apples to Apples Junior includes rules for a couple of tasty variations, too. Crabapple play awards the card to the player with the worst match, while Quick Picked Apples rewards speedy card selection by eliminating from consideration the last card played to a green apple card. Fast and easy to learn, Apples to Apples Junior is a bushel and a peck of fun.

Best Christmas gift ever!!!

My 6 year old daughter got this game for Christmas at her grandparent's house. At one time there were 7 of us playing. (ages 6-43)

Fun Family Game

Our 6 and 8 year-olds just received this game as a present. Our whole family has already played about a dozen times. This game is a lot of fun! I can see our kids playing it with their friends without adult help as the rules and instructions are very simple. The game requires children to think creatively and make unusual associations between adjectives (green cards) and nouns (red cards). As a teacher, I am also using this game to teach grammar (parts of speech, linking verbs, participial nouns...)

This is the best large group game we have found yet!

This game is so much fun! The only thing that should be changed is the age range. The junior game should be ages 6-adult instead of 7-12!! Even my five year old loves it (with a little help reading.) We own shelves of games and this one has probably been the most played of them all. We play with just our family (five people) and we play with large groups of friends. It is great that the game is easily found now at places like Target and Toys R Us. We also own the adult version and it is fun, but for kids I would stick to the junior version as some topics in the adult version will be above their heads.
