Toy Description

The rules are brutal, but the rewards are worth it in this card game that works a bit like Scrabble. Although there is a solitary version of the game for one player, you can play with up to eight. Cards containing letters of the alphabet and special combinations of letters are dealt in increasing number each time the dealer completes a round. Once you've collected your share, you can discard and pick up a new card with each turn. The object is to turn all the letters in your possession into dictionary-proof words while leaving one stray card as a final discard. You want to be the first to accomplish the goal, of course, but there is a scoring system that makes the play competitive for everyone. One nice element is the cards themselves: the letter design is based on beautiful artwork from Celtic manuscripts. This card game is a 1999 Parents' Choice Silver Award winner.

Customer Reviews

Quiddler is fun!

This is an educational game that is enjoyed by multiple age groups and a lot of people can enjoy. If more than the recommended number want to play, we just reduce the number of hands we play. Really is fun and everyone helps everyone else, so there's a lot of interaction. Good choice.

A game you can play daily and not get sick of!

This has become a ritual at our house. Every schoolday morning since my son was 7 (he's now 10) we've made it part of our routine to play a game while we're eating breakfast and waiting for the bus. QUIDDLER has become the game of choice, replacing chess. (He's gotten bored with that since I can't beat him anymore!)

My Favorite Game of ALL Games

This is the best game I've ever played. We love it & have two decks in the house, one in the camper & one in a suitcase. I've given it to all my children & grandchildren. My husband & I play it with a Latin dictionary and allow foreign words, but he cheats and uses crossword clues. (-: The game is addictive and we can play it over and over, coming up with new words every time.
